1. CAPUCHIN MONKEY

Manuel Antonio has an animal that is the most outstanding, and that you can find around Villa Costa Vida: the capuchin monkey.  The capuchin monkey has no fear of humans and they are the smartest monkeys in Costa Rica.  

2. BLUE JEANS

The tiny blue jeans poison dart frog, also known as the strawberry poison arrow frog, is one of Costa Rica’s most colorful and iconic amphibians. It is a forest favor.

3. SLOTHS

Two of the six sloth species live in Costa Rica: two-toed sloths and three-toed sloths. The most common three-toed sloth in the world is the diurnal Brown-throated sloth. They are a bit smaller in size than Hoffman’s sloth as they slightly more active.A fun fact is that they can spend up to 20 hours a day sleeping to conserve energy.

4. SNAKES

The thought of a snake often makes people cringe. But snakes are an important part of Costa Rica’s ecosystem. They can be quite fascinating too. And what most people don’t realize is that most species are not venomous.There are 137 Species of Snakes in Costa Rica.

5. HUMMINGBIRDS

The hummingbirds of Costa Rica are amazing, with more than 50 species found in this country. In the forest, in the Manuel Antonio National Park, or even in the garden of Villa Costa Vida, you may get lucky enough to spot a fiery-throated hummingbird or lesser violetear. Hummingbirds are considered the jewels of all birds and are very important pollinators.  

These are just some of the most common animals that you can find even in the garden of the place where you are staying, in the street or on the beach. Costa Rica is a country abundant in terrestrial, marine and bird fauna.
